Ad inventory for the 83rd annual Academy Awards telecast on ABC is sold out.
The Feb. 27 ceremony, to be hosted by Anne Hathaway and James Franco, sold spots to film studios for only the second time. Studios pushing their pics include Paramount, Summit, Universal and Disney.
The Alphabet gave last year’s buyers a chance to reup before opening sales to freshmen advertisers, but the Academy must sign off on all ads. The Acad also adheres to the strict policy of prohibiting blurbs for any films that are in that year’s Oscar race.
Other marketers courting Oscar viewers will be Amazon.com, Anheuser Busch, Best Buy, Cars.com, Coke, Hyundai, JC Penney, McDonald’s, Nokia, Procter & Gamble, Sprint, Unilever and the American Cancer Society, many of which are returning advertisers.
The kudocast marks one of the Alphabet’s glitziest program offerings of the year for marketers. It will be broadcast live
