HBO’S Paterno directed by Barry Levinson #Paterno, #Alpacino
Al Pacino returns with HBO’s “Paterno”, a tale of complicit guilt in the world of american football, Pacino portrays the disgraced Penn State football coach, Paterno. Last year, a police report obtained by CNN bolsters evidence that legendary football coach Joe Paterno knew years before Jerry Sandusky’s arrest that his longtime assistant might be sexually abusing children. Whistleblower Mike McQueary’s claim of abuse and other allegations led to Sandusky’s conviction in 2012 for sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years, including three victims after a locker room incident in 2001. according to “Indiewire: “Much like Robert De Niro did in Levinson’s HBO film from 2017, the Bernie Madoff biopic “The Wizard of Lies,” Pacino plays Paterno without a wink of hidden understanding. It never feels like Paterno’s purposefully hiding something. He fully believes what he’s saying, even when he’s too flummoxed by all the non-football talk to give a proper response. Yet Pacino tells us everything we need to know by doing less”
